Britney Leaves Stage During Smoky Concert
The news coming from stops on Britney Spears's Circus tour rarely disappoints. In the past several weeks, most reports involve obscenities she blurts into the microphone during and in between songs, in addition to romantic trysts with Chase Benz and ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Last night in Vancouver, however, audience members were more than a little annoyed when Brit left the stage after performing just a few songs and didn't return for half an hour, leaving them in the dark. After a few minutes a loudspeaker announcement informed them: It’s become uncomfortable and unsafe for the performers, including Ms. Spears. The show will resume as soon as the air around the stage is clear. The problem? Some rebels near the stage lit up in the non-smoking arena. Seems bizarre, considering Britney is no stranger to the dangers of smoking:
After much booing, Spears returned to the stage and finished a full set, making the audience happier. Still she left them with a parting gem, including some racy expletives, along with the messages "Drive safe" and "Don't smoke weed." Huh?
Later, a post on her Web site apologized for the pause in the show, saying that some of the crew members got sick due to a ventilation issue.
