Mariah Turns Down the Glam for Role in 'Precious'
Mariah Carey isn't going to let a little critical and commercial flop like Glitter get her down. The trailer for her upcoming film, Precious (or Push, according to imdb), just hit the internet, and it looks like she's set on changing the world's perception of her acting skills.
Carey plays an overworked social worker who is trying to help the film's title character, Precious, played by newcomer Gabourey Sidibe. Although the film has yet to hit theaters (it's currently in limbo due to producer legal problems), Mariah's performance has already generated award-worthy buzz. Also shining in the film is usual-comedienne Mo'Nique, who takes a heartbreaking turn as an abusive mother.
Hopefully, the film will hit theaters by fall, but until then, it's safe to say this trailer features some of the best acting Mariah has ever done.
